Pa. college: Missing drive contained personal info

November 16, 2010
A computer hard drive containing personal information for 43,000 students, alumni and prospective students is missing from a central
Pennsylvania college.
Officials at Messiah College say the drive was lost about two weeks ago. The school and police say it appears
the drive was mislaid, not stolen.
Messiah started an internal investigation to locate the drive after it disappeared from the financial aid department on November 1.
The school then turned the matter over to Upper Allen Township police.
Messiah sent out letters Saturday to individuals whose
information was on the drive. The school is also offering credit and fraud protection for those whose social security numbers were on
the drive.
